Yadira Regla-Cuevas was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. She has been married for 3 years. Yadira has two beautiful children Esmeralda and Ezekiel. Yadira was 12 weeks pregnant with Ezekiel when she received her first soft marker for Down syndrome. A few days after Ezekiel was born, Trisomy 21 was confirmed. Yadira volunteers her time with Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network Rockin Moms en Español, DSDN Parent Advisory Committee and administrator with First Steps-CAPODS. She completed undergraduate at Notre Dame de Namur University and graduate school from Chapman University. She has a long history working with nonprofits and county agensies: Shelter From the Storm, County of Riverside Probation Department and Mental Health. In 2012, she became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She currently works full time with Palm Springs Unified Shool District-Mental Health Department. I want to help other families have a positive experience as they navigate their journey. Mayra Avila Orduño was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. She attended Loyola Marymount University for her bachelors degree in Liberal Studies and obtained her masters degree in Instructional Technology through Chapman University. She has had the privilege of impacting children's lives for 13 years as an elementary teacher. She is married and has two beautiful young daughters. Her youngest daughter, Juliette was pre-diagnosed with Down syndrome, "Ever since then, she's been my inspiration to raise awareness about Down syndrome within my family, community, and work environment. I feel beyond blessed to be part of this foundation and I look forward to helping and supporting other families." Mayra.
Yanira Regla was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. She graduated from Notre Dame de Namur Univeristy with a BA in Sociology. Yanira is the proud mother of Joshua Gunnor Garcia. Yanira worked at Indio Juvenile Hall as a Probation Correctional Officer for 8 years. She switched careers in 2013 and currently works for the Palm Springs Unified School District as a Behavior Support Specialist for Special Education program. "Working in the special education program has given me the tools that I need to assist my family. When I heard the news of the diagnosis of Ezekiel, I felt very blessed to be his aunt. I'm very proud and honored to serve this amazing organization." Yanira.
Alma C. Regla has lived in the Coachella Valley since 1970, graduated from Indio High School in 1981. Alma married her husband Benito in 1981. She has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Alma retired as a senior child support specialist from the County of Riverside after 28 years of service. "I was blessed to have my mother babysit my kids and I loved the bond they created with her. In return, I decided to pay it forward by babysitting my grandchildren. I enjoy creating great memories with them." Alma.
